The final session of the day – and of the first week of CoP – focused on the practical applications of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) at the local level. Following the adoption of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS at CBD CoP-10 in Japan, 2010, new opportunities are likely to emerge for communities to benefit from their roles as custodians of genetic resources and holders of traditional knowledge.
